There is no such thing as the Employment Hero price, and the first thing to fix is the currency: the pricing page is the Australian one, its disclaimer says every figure is AUD excluding GST, and there is no US page.
✓ Pricing re-verified 28 Aug 2026
(2026-08-28, read on their own pricing page at employmenthero.com/pricing/) EVERY PRICE ON THAT PAGE IS AUD EXCLUDING GST — the page states it in its own disclaimer. It is the Australian page; separate pages exist for the UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada, and there is no US one. Sold as separate modules rather than one plan. Recruitment: a free ATS tier at A$0 that includes 50 complimentary AI video interviews as a one-off trial, then A$199, A$359, A$639 and A$959 a month for 50, 100, 200 and 300 interviews.
Those are annual-billing rates — the disclaimer gives A$2,388 a year for the 50-interview plan at a 20% discount, against A$249 a month on monthly billing. Interview credits reset monthly, unused credits do not roll over, and overage is billed automatically with no hard cap. No HR or payroll subscription is required for Recruitment. HR Essentials A$10 per employee per month, HR Engage A$14; HR Elite and Employment Unlimited are quote-only.
There is no standalone payroll tier on the page any more: payroll sits inside Employment Unlimited, and Managed Payroll is an add-on at A$20 per employee per month with a A$400 monthly minimum. Other add-ons, each per employee per month with a stated monthly minimum: Chat A$2 (min A$20), Rostering and Time and Attendance A$4 (A$40), HR Advisory A$14 (A$280), Learning 10-course bundle A$8 (A$80), LMS Plus A$17 (A$170), EAP Standard A$8 (A$80), EAP Premium A$10 (A$100).
A minimum of 10 Users applies, billed on the higher of the users named in your agreement or the active users. Every price on the page carries an asterisk. CHANGED SINCE 1 AUG 2026: the standalone Payroll module at $10 per employee recorded then is no longer on the page, and the currency was not recorded as AUD. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

Then the structure. HR, recruitment, chat and payroll are separate subscriptions, most of them per employee, with a stated minimum of ten users underneath — so a six-person company is billed for ten. Payroll no longer carries its own price at all: it is inside the quote-only Employment Unlimited tier, or an A$20-a-head add-on with a A$400 floor. And the recruitment tiers meter AI video interviews rather than people, with credits that reset monthly, do not roll over, and overage billed automatically with no hard cap.
Modular HR, payroll and recruitment platform for small and mid-size employers.

Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run Employment Hero ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.
This is a menu rather than a ladder, so the question is which modules you are buying — and in which currency. The page is the Australian one, its disclaimer says every figure is AUD excluding GST, and there is no US page. HR Essentials is A$10 per employee a month and HR Engage A$14; above them, HR Elite and Employment Unlimited are quote-only. Payroll no longer carries a price of its own: it sits inside Employment Unlimited, or you buy Managed Payroll at A$20 per employee with a A$400 monthly floor.
Recruitment is metered on a different axis and is the part worth doing sums on. A$199, A$359, A$639 and A$959 buy 50, 100, 200 and 300 AI video interviews — A$3.98, A$3.59, A$3.20 and A$3.20 each, so the discount stops at 200. Those are annual-billing rates; monthly billing is A$249 for the 50. What upgrading does not solve: credits reset every month, unused ones do not roll over, and overage is billed automatically with no hard cap, so a heavy hiring month costs extra on the largest plan too. The ten-user minimum sits under the per-employee rates whichever tier you pick.
Build the sum yourself, and build it in Australian dollars: the pricing page is the AU one and every figure on it excludes GST. HR Essentials is A$10 a head, HR Engage A$14, Chat A$2 with a A$20 monthly minimum — and a stated ten-user minimum sits under all of it, so a six-person company is billed for ten. Payroll has no standalone price any more: budget Managed Payroll at A$20 a head with a A$400 floor, or get a quote for Employment Unlimited.
Treat recruitment as a separate decision, because it is metered differently from everything else. It counts AI video interviews rather than people — A$199, A$359, A$639 and A$959 for 50, 100, 200 and 300 on annual billing, or A$249 for the 50 if you pay monthly. Check the overage before you commit: credits reset monthly, do not roll over, and the excess is billed automatically with no cap. Read the asterisks before you compare this with anything: they are the difference between the quote you modelled and the invoice you get.
Both columns come from the same place: each vendor’s own published pricing, read on the date shown in the sources at the foot of this page. We do not average them into a score.
The Deel link above is an affiliate link — we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you — and the other column is a plain link. Neither changes what this table says: both columns come straight from the vendors’ own pricing pages.
The natural comparison is BambooHR or Deel — the usual comparison — build the total for the modules you actually need at your headcount, and convert before you compare: Employment Hero publishes in AUD excluding GST while both of those publish in USD.
The ex-banker filter — the same yardstick on every review (how we review): My ex-banker filter is simple: does Employment Hero remove a real cost — time, errors, missed revenue — bigger than what it charges? If the job above is genuinely yours, it's worth a look. We never publish fake or “exclusive” prices, so always confirm the current plan on their site.
Compliance is country by country, so the honest answer is: only where the vendor says it is, and only for the entity type you actually have. Ask which countries are covered by its own entities versus a local partner, who carries the liability if something is filed wrong, and how changes in local law reach you. Get those answers in the contract rather than the sales deck.
