Sendcloud Review (2026)Lite Wins Until 5,900 Labels

By · Researched and written with an AI assistant · who does what

The pricing has layers — a per-label fee on top of the subscription, plus carrier surcharges that can land on invoices weeks later. Throughout this review we weigh it against ShipStation.

Best for

European e-commerce stores that want easy multi-carrier shipping (DHL, PostNL, Colissimo, GLS, DPD), branded tracking and a returns portal live in under 30 minutes.

Skip it if

you ship mainly in the US, need inventory management and complex fulfilment, or you're a very high-volume shipper wanting deep customisation — ShipStation fits that better.

THE CARRIER RATE TABLE, first recorded 22 Sep 2026 and the part that actually moves the bill: the plans buy a carrier discount the feature table grades '- / + / ++ / +++ / ++++', and the starting rates are published per plan. PostNL Standaard €7.20 free, €6.95 Lite, €6.75 Growth, €6.60 Premium, 'On request' on Pro. DHLForYou Drop off €5.80 / 5.50 / 5.25 / 5.14 / On request.

DPD Home €5.82 / 5.61 / 5.48 / 5.35 / On request. So the per-parcel discount steps (€0.20 and €0.15 between the paid tiers on PostNL) are fifteen to twenty times the one-cent steps in the label fee. The three UK carriers are priced on the FREE column only - Royal Mail Tracked 48 £2.38, Evri Standard Two Day £3.37, FedEx Priority £5.15 - with 'On request' across Lite, Growth, Premium and Pro.

Pro publishes no rate for any carrier at all, so the €639 tier cannot be modelled from this page. The table is footnoted 'Prices shown are starting rates. Actual costs may vary. Create a free account to view all rates', and its row-label column header is still literally 'Placeholder'. (2026)

The catch

It's built out-of-the-box, so deep customisation is limited, there's no inventory management (ShipStation has it), and high-volume shippers (€12k+/mo) plus pickup-reliability complaints suggest it's happiest with small-to-mid EU stores.

What buyers report about Sendcloud

Hands-on: not tested by usReported by buyers: G2, Capterra and Trustpilot, read August 2026

Themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run Sendcloud ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.

What they praise
  • • Multiple carriers, automated labels and returns in one place — for a store shipping across Europe that consolidation is the whole value.
  • • You can bring your own carrier contracts on paid plans rather than being locked into their rates.
What they complain about
  • • The bill has three layers: the subscription, a per-label fee that falls as the plan rises, and the actual postage — with a surcharge on every label past your included volume. Carrier surcharges can land weeks later.
  • • One reviewer reports rates invoiced around 30% above public prices for certain carriers, and questions how those can be called discounted. Check a sample of your own invoices against published rates.
  • • Bugs are reported, notably in Royal Mail rate selection.
  • • A merchant spending over €12,000 a month describes 18 months of DPD pick-up failures needing weekly support contact. Support consistency is the recurring theme.

The label cap decides your tier, not the arithmetic

Sendcloud runs a double meter — a subscription and a per-label fee — but the thing that actually picks your tier is a cap most comparisons miss (price re-verified 2026-08-31 against the vendor's own pricing page). Lite is €28 a month plus €0.10 a label. Growth is €87 plus €0.09. Premium is €175 plus €0.08. Pro is €639 plus €0.07. There is a genuine free plan at €0 for up to 20 parcels a month, with no courier contract.

Each plan also carries a monthly label limit — 400 on Lite, 1,000 on Growth, 10,000 on Premium, 30,000 on Pro — and past it every extra label costs €0.15 on top of the plan rate. That changes the sums completely. Divide the subscription gap by the one-cent difference in label fees and Lite looks cheapest until 5,900 labels a month; put the cap and the overage back in and Lite stops winning at about 744.

Growth beats Premium only to about 1,488, and Premium beats Pro only to about 12,275. Size a plan on the label fee alone and you will overshoot the real crossover by a factor of four to eight. What is left is a ladder you climb on volume rather than on price. At 300 parcels a month Lite is €58 against Growth's €114 and is clearly right. At 600 you are over Lite's cap: €28 plus €40 plus €50 of overage is €118, against €141 on Growth — still ahead, but the gap is closing, and by about 744 it is gone.

Beyond price the fit is a hard constraint rather than a preference. Sendcloud ships from eight European countries — Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK — so stock outside them cannot use it at all. There is no inventory management, the build is out-of-the-box so deep customisation is limited, and carrier surcharges can land on invoices weeks after the parcel moved, which makes any figure here a floor rather than a bill.

How to actually use Sendcloud

Count your parcels a month before you look at the plans, because that number hits a cap before it hits a price. Lite allows 400 labels a month, Growth 1,000, Premium 10,000 and Pro 30,000, and past the cap each extra label costs €0.15 on top of the plan rate. Lite stays the cheapest option to roughly 744 labels a month — not the 5,900 you get from comparing label fees alone.

Check you can ship from your country at all before anything else. Sendcloud supports shipping from eight European nations, so if your stock sits outside them this is not a candidate. Start on the free plan. It carries no subscription and no courier contract, covers 20 parcels a month, and is enough to see how the label flow and the returns portal fit your process. There is also a 14-day trial of the paid tiers without a card.

Then model the full cost rather than the subscription: the plan, the per-label fee, the overage past the cap, and carrier surcharges that can arrive weeks after the parcel shipped. And note the gap — there is no inventory management here, so that stays in another system.

Where this section comes from: our research notes (136 words)

Read 22 Sep 2026 from a Dutch exit, and previously 31 Aug 2026 with identical figures: sendcloud.com/pricing/ - the four plan cards (rates, user and integration limits, and the per-tier annual label maximum), the comparison table that gives the free plan's EUR 0.50 over-limit rate and grades the carrier discount from '-' to '++++', the 'Our shipping rates' table with the per-plan starting rates for PostNL Standaard, DHLForYou Drop off, DPD Home, Royal Mail Tracked 48, Evri Standard Two Day and FedEx Priority (and its 'Prices shown are starting rates' footnote), and the pricing FAQ entries 'What is the price per label?' (the monthly caps of 400/1,000/10,000/30,000 and the EUR 0.15 overage) and 'From which countries can I ship with Sendcloud?'.

The yearly (-20%) figures are not in the served HTML; only the monthly rates are.

The natural comparison is ShipStation — the US-focused fulfilment platform with inventory management. Weigh it against ShipStation on the job you actually need done.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lite really the cheapest plan until I hit its 400-label cap?

Only if you ignore the carrier rates, and they are the bigger number. Read 22 September 2026, the pricing page publishes a starting rate per plan per carrier, and it drops as you climb: PostNL Standaard is €7.20 on the free plan, €6.95 on Lite, €6.75 on Growth and €6.60 on Premium. That 20-cent step between Lite and Growth is twenty times the one-cent step in the label fee everyone compares. Put all three meters together for a shop sending PostNL Standaard - subscription, label fee and carrier rate - and Lite costs €28 plus €7.05 a parcel while Growth costs €87 plus €6.84, so Growth overtakes Lite at about 281 parcels a month, well before Lite's 400-label cap ever bites. Growth gives way to Premium at about 550 on the same arithmetic. Those are starting rates for one service before surcharges, so run them against your own carrier mix - but size your plan on the rate column, not the label fee.

What does Pro actually buy for €639 a month?

Everything except a number you can check. Read 22 September 2026, Pro is the only tier with no published carrier rate: PostNL, DHL and DPD all read 'On request' in its column while the four cheaper plans show figures, and the three UK carriers are priced on the free column alone. Its label fee is one cent below Premium's, at €0.07, and its cap is 360,000 labels a year against Premium's 120,000. So the €464 a month over Premium is not bought on the published meters at all - it is bought on cross-border shipping partnerships, dynamic delivery options in checkout, the marketplace shipping solution, a Customer Success Manager, guided onboarding and a shipping strategy health check, plus a carrier discount the feature table grades '++++' and never prices. It is also the only plan you cannot start with a trial: the button says talk to an expert. Ask for the carrier rate card in writing before you sign, because that is the line that multiplies by every parcel you send.

We ship from the UK. Which rates apply to us?

None that this page will show you on a paid plan. Read 22 September 2026, the rate table lists Royal Mail Tracked 48 at £2.38, Evri Standard Two Day at £3.37 and FedEx Priority at £5.15 - and every one of those figures sits in the Free column, with 'On request' across Lite, Growth, Premium and Pro. The Dutch, German and French carriers get four published numbers each. That inverts the normal reading of a pricing page: on the UK carriers, the only rate you can verify before paying is the one on the plan with a 20-parcel monthly ceiling. The UK is one of the eight countries Sendcloud fully supports shipping from, alongside Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, so this is not a coverage gap - it is a disclosure gap. Open a free account, pull the rates for your own services and postcodes, and only then decide which subscription the discount ladder justifies.
