You do not know what a change costs until it is done. Throughout this review we weigh it against Bubble.
founders, marketers and small teams who want a working web app with a database from a written description, online the same day without setting up hosting.
your app must keep saving data all month on a zero budget, or your team wants to write and review the code itself rather than prompt for changes.

On 26 September 2026 we built the same class-booking web app in Lovable, Replit and Emergent from one identical prompt, each on its free plan, and checked every result against 18 tests we wrote down before the first build. We changed no code: the builder only got our prompt. Lovable paid us nothing when we ran the test; it accepted us into its affiliate programme on 28 September 2026, and these findings were recorded before that.

Summarised from the pricing notes below; the notes carry the conditions.
Free: 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, which do not roll over; plus a monthly Cloud grant of 20 credits for hosting and backend services and 4 credits for AI features inside published apps. Pro starts at 25 euros a month for 100 credits, with a dropdown of larger credit tiers: 200 for 50 euros, 400 for 100 euros and 800 for 200 euros keep the same 25 cents a credit, and the discounts only start at 1,200 credits for 294 euros (2%), rising to 10% at 5,000 credits for 1,125 euros.
Pro adds custom domains, removing the Lovable badge, credit rollover for one month, on-demand top-ups and user roles. Business starts at 50 euros a month for the same 100 credits and adds SSO, a security center, internal-only publishing and personal projects. Enterprise is a platform fee on volume pricing. Yearly billing is advertised as two months free. What a message costs depends on the work: the documentation gives about 0.50 credits for a styling change, 1.20 for adding authentication and 2.00 for a landing page with images, and Plan mode costs 1 credit a message. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
Category context: IT & Productivity. Across the 40 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $15 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

Lovable prices each build message by the work it turns out to involve, from about half a credit for a styling tweak to two credits for a page with images, so a credit budget is an estimate, not a price list. The second catch is easy to miss: the app you publish runs its database, hosting and AI features on a separate monthly Cloud grant of 20 credits. Lovable's own documentation says a published app stays live when those credits run out, but its backend services and AI features pause, so an app that works on day one can stop saving data later in the month.
The larger Pro tiers are no cheaper per credit until 1,200 credits a month, so buying ahead saves nothing below that.
The video version of this review, from our YouTube channel.
AI app builder that turns a written description into a web app with a database and hosting, published to a lovable.app address in one click. Billing is in credits whose cost per message depends on the work, and a published app's backend runs on a separate monthly Cloud allowance.

Pay when one of three limits bites. The free plan's 30 build credits a month are enough to build and publish a small app (our booking app took 4), but not to keep changing it. A custom domain and removing the Lovable badge both need Pro. And if the app's backend runs out of the 20 free Cloud credits a month, its data and AI features pause until you top up.
Pro at 25 euros for 100 credits is the step for all three; buy the tier you actually use, because every tier up to 800 credits costs the same 25 cents a credit and the first discount is 2% at 1,200. Business costs double for the same 100 credits and is only worth it for SSO, internal-only publishing or a security center.
The first findings are at the top of this page. The rest:
Mail timeline: not measured.
What this test does not show: One run on one day on the free plan. Not a security audit or a load test, we did not measure how fast the 20 monthly Cloud credits run down, and we did not trigger Lovable's full database export.
Most of our reviews are researched rather than run — how we review explains which is which, and why we do not pretend otherwise.
Build a class-booking app and try to break it. A one-person yoga studio takes class bookings. Visitors book, move or cancel; only the owner sees and cancels all bookings and exports them.
Anyone deciding between AI app builders for a small booking, sign-up or reservation app: whether the builder handles capacity, double bookings, a protected admin page, export and data that survives republishing.
We ran all 18 of 18 checks on Lovable (Free, Build) on 2026-09-26, with 0 repair rounds. One run on one day; re-run the checks on the plan you would buy.
The kit has the prompt, all 18 checks with their pass conditions, made-up test data and our own run on Emergent, Lovable and Replit. No sign-up needed.
When our recommendation changes
Not a security audit beyond T09 and T11, no load test beyond ten requests, no payments, email or real traffic, and one run per builder. The full test, check by check.
Write what you want as a numbered list of requirements rather than a paragraph, and say what to leave out; in our test Lovable followed eight numbered requirements and skipped payments, email and accounts as asked. Starting from the dashboard, it asks to create a project and later asks before publishing; both are one click. Expect it to fill gaps itself: it invented a studio name, a temporary admin password and a time zone, and said so in its summary, so replace those before anyone else sees the app.
Lovable itself advises running its security scan before sharing a link widely. Then test the awkward case yourself: two people taking the last spot at the same moment, or whatever the equivalent is in your app.

Hands-on: our own build on a new free account on 2026-09-26, see /research/one-booking-app-three-ai-builders/. Lovable documentation, Credits and usage https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage (the plans-and-credits URL now redirects there; read 2026-09-27): one credit balance for building, chat, Cloud and AI features; usage-specific grants are spent first and then general credits; Free gets 5 daily build credits capped at 30 per calendar month, Pro and Business 5 a day with no monthly cap; unused monthly plan credits roll over while subscribed and expire 2 months after issue on monthly plans, top-ups (Pro and Business only) 12 months after purchase; backend services pause only when the workspace has no credits at all; cancelling is 'Downgrade to free', active until the period ends.
Added 21 October 2026: the two GitHub answers come from https://docs.lovable.dev/integrations/github, and the chat-allowance answer from https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage (the old plans-and-credits address now redirects there), both read that day; the credit grants on that page (5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month on Free, 20 Cloud and 4 AI credits a month) were unchanged. The euro amounts on lovable.dev/pricing load in the browser and were not re-read that day.

The natural comparison is Replit Agent, Emergent or Bolt — AI app builders that also charge per unit of work; in our one-prompt test of three of them, Lovable's first version was the only one that held a booking limit under simultaneous requests. Weigh it against Bubble on the job you actually need done.
Thirty build credits a month, front-loaded. Lovable's credits documentation (read 27 September 2026) says Free gets 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 per calendar month, so the grant arrives over the first six days and then stops until the 1st of the next month at 00:00 UTC. Separate monthly grants of 20 credits for hosting and backend (Cloud) and 4 for AI features cover the published app. Pro and Business also get the 5 daily build credits, with no monthly cap, on top of their monthly allowance.
Partly. The documentation (read 27 September 2026) says unused monthly plan credits roll over as long as the subscription stays active, but keep their original expiry: two months after issue on monthly billing, one month after the annual period ends on yearly billing. Top-up credits, sold on Pro and Business only, last 12 months. The daily build credits and the Cloud and AI grants never roll over.
The site stays up; the backend may not. Per the documentation (read 27 September 2026) the published pages keep serving, but AI features stop and an app relying on Lovable Cloud for its database, storage or login can pause. That only happens when the workspace has no credits left at all: once the Cloud grant is used, hosting draws on your general credits. On Free there are few of those, which is why an app can stall late in the month. Everything resumes when credits return, by top-up or the next grant.
No. Lovable's GitHub integration guide (docs.lovable.dev, read 21 October 2026) lists reconnecting to the same repository after disconnecting as unsupported: Lovable creates a new repository when you reconnect. Treat the disconnect as one-way and keep your own clone of the repository before you do it.
No, one at a time. The same guide (read 21 October 2026) says Lovable only syncs one branch at a time, so work on other branches does not flow back into the editor until you switch the synced branch. Teams that rely on several long-running branches should plan for that.
Not first. Lovable's credits-and-usage documentation (read 21 October 2026) says messages in Chat mode follow their own pricing, with a per-message price and a daily chat allowance included on Free, Pro and Business; only after that allowance is used up does chat draw on the daily build credits. The page does not state how large the allowance is, and Lovable calls the chat pricing and the monthly Cloud, AI and connector grants temporary and subject to change.
Yes. We tested Lovable ourselves on 2026-09-26; the section above says what we tested, what we found and what we did not test, and where a figure comes from the vendor's own documentation instead.
