Shopmonkey Review (2026)$215-$449/mo, Payment Fees Unlisted

By · Researched and written with an AI assistant · who does what

Card processing is part of the product, but the online and in-person payment rates are 'Call for Pricing' on every plan, so you cannot work out the full monthly cost from the page.

Best for

independent auto repair, tire and fleet service shops with roughly 3 to 6 staff who want estimates, inspections, customer texting, parts ordering and payments in one system.

Skip it if

you want to try the software before talking to sales, you need a published card-processing rate to compare, or you only need simple invoicing.

Pricing (2026)

✓ Pricing re-verified 11 Oct 2026

Three published plans for auto repair shops and a Multi-Shop plan on quote. Billed annually, which the page says saves up to 10%: Basic $215 a month, Clever $359, Genius $449. Billed monthly: $239, $399 and $499. Basic includes 3 user licences, Clever 4 and Genius 5, and each additional user is $20 a month on all three. Basic covers two-way text and email, unlimited estimates and invoices, a calendar with automated reminders, 2 digital vehicle inspection templates, electronic signatures, integrated payments, parts lookup and ordering and the mobile app.

Clever adds a customisable workflow, unlimited inspections, labor guides, inventory management, purchase orders, time clock tracking and the built-in QuickBooks Online and ALLDATA integrations. Genius adds a Google reviews manager, diagrams and procedures, automated estimate follow-ups, inactive work orders, a coupons manager, audit logs and what the page calls the lowest payment rates. A one-time $500 data migration fee applies. The card reader is $299 plus $10 a month per device, with a further $10 a month per device for cellular, and online and in-person payment fees are listed as 'Call for Pricing' on every plan.

QuickBooks Desktop integration is an additional fee. Paid add-ons for any plan: CRM Essentials and Bookkeeping at $314 a month each billed annually ($349 monthly), Accounting at $89 ($99), and Heavy Duty on custom pricing. Every plan button on the page leads to a demo request; there is no self-serve signup or free trial on the pricing page. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

Category context: Operations & Workflow. Across the 52 tools in this category that we researched with a public US-dollar price, the median entry price is $27 a month (lowest paid plan as listed, per seat where the vendor prices per seat). Shopmonkey’s entry price of $215 a month sits above that median. Compare pricing conditions in the Software Cost Atlas →

What the pricing page doesn’t say

The catch

Inventory, purchase orders and unlimited inspections are not in the $215 Basic plan, a $500 migration fee and $299 card readers come on top, and there is no free trial or self-serve signup, only a demo. We have not used Shopmonkey ourselves.

What Shopmonkey does

Shop management software for auto repair shops: estimates and invoices, digital vehicle inspections, customer texting, parts lookup and ordering, inventory, labor guides and integrated payments.

Shopmonkey product
Shopmonkey, from their own site — for context, not a paid placement.

Clever is where it becomes a shop system rather than a front desk

Basic at $215 a month billed annually handles the customer side well: estimates, invoices, texting, reminders, payments and parts ordering for 3 users. What it leaves out is the back of the shop. Inventory, purchase orders, time clock, labor guides, unlimited inspections and the QuickBooks Online link all start on Clever at $359. For most working shops Clever is the honest entry price: without inventory and purchase orders you are still tracking parts somewhere else, and Basic allows only 2 inspection templates.

Genius at $449 adds review management, estimate follow-ups and diagrams and procedures, and the page says it has the lowest payment rates. Because the payment fees themselves are not published, ask for the rates on Clever and Genius in writing: on card volume, a lower rate can pay for the $90 difference or not, and only the quote tells you which. Count staff too. A 6-person shop on Clever pays for 2 extra users at $20 each, $399 a month in total on annual billing, and the $500 migration fee lands once at the start.

How to actually use Shopmonkey

Shopmonkey is sold through a demo, so prepare before the call: the number of people who need a login, your monthly card volume, the parts suppliers you order from and whether you use QuickBooks Online or Desktop. Ask for the online and in-person payment rates on each plan in writing, since the page does not publish them. Plan the move: a one-time $500 migration fee covers bringing your data across, and the card reader is $299 per device plus monthly fees.

Set up digital inspection templates and the parts integrations first, because estimates built from inspections are where the system saves the most time.

Distilled from Shopmonkey's own pricing page (shopmonkey.io/pricing), read on 2026-10-11: the plan cards with annual and monthly prices, the full plan comparison table (user licences, features per plan, integrations, payment hardware and fees, support), the data migration footnote and the add-on prices. The FAQ answers on that page were collapsed and not read. Shopmonkey is a PartnerStack partner of ours. We have not used Shopmonkey ourselves.

Payment processing rates are not published, and inventory and purchase orders start on the $359 Clever plan.
Best for
independent auto repair, tire and fleet service shops with roughly 3 to 6 staff who want estimates, inspections, customer texting, parts ordering and payments in one system
What it costs

The catch
The Basic tier is a trap for real field teams — it omits GPS tracking and QuickBooks sync, so most businesses need Essentials or up.
Best for
home-service businesses (HVAC, plumbing, cleaning) that want scheduling, dispatch, invoicing and payments in one app

The natural comparison is Housecall Pro — Housecall Pro is in our dossiers too, but it is a general field-service app for trades that drive to the customer. Shopmonkey is built for vehicles coming into the bay, with VIN decode, vehicle inspections, labor guides and parts ordering. A car repair shop should compare Shopmonkey with other auto-shop systems rather than with a general field-service app..
