FreshserviceFreshservice Review (2026)The ITSM Features Are at Pro

IT & ProductivityResearched assessment · by Daniel HaketUpdated 2026-09-25

The $19 headline rarely survives contact with a real deployment: the ITSM features most IT teams buy for (change/problem management, deeper analytics) live at Pro, and the modern extras — AI agent sessions, orchestration runs, asset counts — meter separately.

Best for: IT teams that want proper ITSM (incidents, assets, changes, service catalog) running in weeks, without enterprise-suite implementation pain.

Entry price per seat, per month, USD. Our own dated readings of 4 it & productivity tools — not a market survey, and cheapest is not best.

Per agent, read 23 Sep 2026 on freshworks.com/freshservice/pricing/: Starter $19/agent/mo billed annually or $29 monthly; Growth $49 or $59; Pro $99 or $119. Enterprise is quote-only again: the card now reads 'Custom' with a 'Contact us' button. The page's own plan data still carries $139 annual and $167 monthly for it, but with a hidePrices flag set and 'Custom' as the display text, so those two numbers are not an offer (on 1 Sep 2026 they were printed).

Monthly billing costs 53% more on Starter and about 20% more on Growth and Pro. The same plan data carries a euro set -- Starter EUR 15 annual / EUR 25 monthly, Growth 40/50, Pro 84/102 -- in which the Starter monthly surcharge is 67%, not 53%. Metered on top of the seat: Freddy AI Copilot $29/agent/mo, still an add-on on Enterprise even though that card now says 'Freddy AI included' (what is included there is the Freddy AI Agent (Classic) at 1,200 sessions per Enterprise licence per year, plus Freddy AI Insights); orchestration transactions included at 1,000/2,000/5,000/20,000 per account per month with extra packs at $250 per 1,000; MCP actions allowanced at 1,200, 6,000 or 12,000 a year with packs at $15 per 1,000; an e-signature pack at $90 for 30 signature credits; project management licences at $15/user/mo; a Business Agent licence for non-IT teams at $49/agent/mo; connector app tasks at $80 per 5,000 after a one-time 500 free.

Every tier includes the ITAM Growth package and 100 asset units; further units are sold in packs of 500. Three free Day Passes for occasional agents at signup, more from $3. 14-day free trial with all features. FAQ: upgrades apply instantly, downgrades and cancellations only at the end of the term. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

What the price did

We capture Freshservice’s own pricing page every month and keep the figures, so this is our record of the page — not a forecast, and not someone else’s summary.

Steady through the summer. Our monthly captures of freshworks.com/freshservice/pricing from July, August and September 2026 all carry the same three annual per-agent rates: Starter $19, Growth $49 and Pro $99. The wording around them changed between every capture, but the plan prices did not, and our own reading on 23 September 2026 returned the same three figures.

The catch

Price the tier that contains your must-haves plus realistic AI usage, not the starter row. Within that honesty, it's one of the fastest ITSM tools to actually stand up.

What Freshservice does

AI-powered IT service management (ITSM) from Freshworks: cloud help desk, ticketing, asset management and workflow automation to run IT support and internal service desks without heavy ITIL overhead.

What buyers report about Freshservice

Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026; SourceForge read September 2026. We have not run Freshservice ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.

What they praise
  • • 4.6 on G2, and the 2026 interface rewrite replaced the old database-style layouts with something reviewers describe as clean and easy to navigate.
  • • Standing up an IT service desk takes days rather than a quarter.
  • • SourceForge reviewers (read September 2026, 2,139 reviews on the listing) keep returning to the self-service portal and SLA management, to how easy it is to build workflows, and to the asset side: inventory reports that reconcile what you own against what the books say.
What they complain about
  • • Contract renewal practices and unexpected price increases are the most common complaints.
  • • Support quality drops after onboarding — reviewers describe implementation teams disappearing and first-line chat being unhelpful.
  • • Advanced features need higher tiers, reporting customisation is limited lower down, and change management needs configuring before it is usable.
  • • Small businesses and startups find it cost-prohibitive.
  • • The concrete complaints on SourceForge (read September 2026) are about the asset module and integrations rather than price: crashes when syncing users from Active Directory and SCCM, assets that can only be grouped as products, warehouses or office assets rather than by instance, no way to record why an item left inventory, and no QR-code check-in for assets.

Where the ratings disagree. Strong on G2, weaker on Trustpilot — and the split is support and billing rather than the service desk itself.

When the paid plan is worth it

The page prints both cycles for three tiers, per agent: Starter $19 a month on annual billing and $29 monthly, Growth $49 and $59, Pro $99 and $119. Enterprise went back to 'Custom' with a Contact us button between our reads of 1 and 23 September 2026. The page's own plan data still holds $139 annual and $167 monthly for it, but flagged to stay hidden, so treat those as an opening number for the sales call rather than a price.

The billing penalty is real but it is not spread evenly. Staying month-to-month costs 53% more on Starter — $29 against $19 — and about 20% more on Growth and Pro. Flexibility is expensive at the entry tier and merely normal higher up, which is the reverse of how these ladders usually run. Be confident about your agent count before you sign annually: the FAQ lets you upgrade instantly but only downgrade or cancel at the end of the term, so an over-estimate is locked in for twelve months.

What no tier buys you is an exit from the meters. Freddy AI Copilot is $29 an agent a month on every tier, Enterprise included — the 'Freddy AI included' on that card means the Freddy AI Agent (Classic) at 1,200 sessions per licence per year, not Copilot. Orchestration grows from 1,000 transactions a month on Starter to 20,000 on Enterprise with extra packs at $250 per 1,000, and MCP actions from 1,200 to 12,000 a year with packs at $15 per 1,000. Moving up a tier raises the included allowances; it never removes the meter.

How to actually use Freshservice

List your must-have ITSM processes before you look at the price ladder, because the tier is decided by which of them you need. Change management, problem management and the deeper analytics — the things most IT teams actually buy an ITSM tool for — live at Pro at $99 an agent, not at the $19 Starter row that anchors every comparison. Price the tier that contains your list. Then add the three separate meters, because none of them is in the seat price: AI, orchestration transactions and asset counts all bill on top.

Two of the rates are published -- Freddy AI Copilot at $29 an agent a month, extra orchestration at $250 per 1,000 transactions -- so price them in rather than asking later. Take annual billing, and notice where the surcharge falls hardest. Monthly is 53% more on Starter ($29 against $19) but about 20% more on Growth and Pro — so the entry tier punishes flexibility most. This is one of the fastest ITSM tools to actually stand up, so a real pilot on one team is cheap before a company-wide rollout.

Distilled from freshworks.com/freshservice/pricing/, read 23 September 2026 (previously 1 September 2026). The rendered cards print only the annual rate for Starter, Growth and Pro and 'Custom' for Enterprise; the monthly rates and the Enterprise figures were read from the page's own embedded plan data, which carries priceUsd and priceUsdAnnual per tier alongside EUR, GBP, AUD and INR -- Starter 29/19, Growth 59/49, Pro 119/99, Enterprise 167/139 with hidePrices true and altPricingText 'Custom'. The add-on and metering figures (Freddy AI Copilot, orchestration allowances and packs, MCP action allowances and packs, e-signature packs, project management licences, the Business Agent licence, connector app tasks, ITAM asset units in packs of 500, Day Passes) and the FAQ answers on downgrades, the 14-day trial and Freddy AI Agent (Classic) sessions come from the same page.

The natural comparison is Jira Service Management or ServiceNow — JSM undercuts for dev-centric teams; ServiceNow rules the enterprise — Freshservice wins the mid-market on speed-to-value.

Frequently asked questions

Is Freshservice Enterprise $139 an agent?

Not any more, as far as the page is concerned. Read 23 September 2026, the Enterprise card on freshworks.com/freshservice/pricing/ says 'Custom' and 'Contact us', where on 1 September it printed $139 an agent billed annually and $167 monthly. Both numbers are still in the page's own plan data, next to a flag that tells the page to hide them and show 'Custom' instead, so they tell you where the conversation probably starts, not what you will be quoted. The tiers below it are unchanged and still self-serve: Starter $19 annual or $29 monthly, Growth $49 or $59, Pro $99 or $119 per agent. If you are comparing against Pro, note what Enterprise adds on the card - sandbox, audit logs, Freddy AI Insights and the Freddy AI Agent (Classic) with 1,200 sessions per licence per year - and that Freddy AI Copilot stays a $29 add-on on both.

HR and facilities need to work tickets too. Do they need full IT agent seats?

Not necessarily. Read 23 September 2026, the comparison table lists a Business Agent licence for non-IT teams - the page names HR, facilities, finance and legal - at $49 an agent a month, against $99 for a Pro IT agent on annual billing. For people who only touch the desk now and then, the FAQ describes occasional agents: three Day Passes come free at signup and more start from $3. The catch is that the page does not spell out what a Business Agent cannot do; it links to a separate explainer for that. Check it against the workflows those teams actually run before you split the licence count, because a seat that cannot do the job gets upgraded later at the full rate.

If we sign annual for 25 agents and end up needing 18, can we drop seats?

Not until the term ends. Read 23 September 2026, the FAQ says upgrades take effect instantly but downgrades and cancellations only at the end of your term, so the 25 are paid for the whole year. That is the real cost of the annual discount, and it is lopsided by tier: annual saves $10 an agent a month on Starter ($19 against $29) but the same $10 on Growth ($49 against $59) and $20 on Pro ($99 against $119), which is a 20% premium for flexibility above Starter and 53% at it. Use the 14-day trial, which the FAQ says gives unrestricted access to every feature, to count the agents who actually log in, then sign for that number and add seats as you grow - adding is instant, removing is not.

What should I weigh before buying IT & Productivity software?

Judge it on evidence rather than adjectives. Look for a published security page, single sign-on and role controls on the plan you would actually buy (they are often gated to higher tiers), a status page with real incident history, and a clear answer on where your data is stored. If the tool will hold anything sensitive, those four answers matter more than any feature comparison.
